It was a busy weekend of football for Headington Youth's first set of official matches, a big thanks to all the parents/spectators that came and cheered all the teams on. Saturday morning saw 3 teams at home and started with the U11 Girls, who put in a fantastic performance against Thame, which was followed by the U7's in action for the very first time against Mansfield Road. The U9's completed the days football and they battled brilliantly in their game agaist Harwell and Hendred.
The U12's, U13's and U14's were all in action on Sunday and the U12's in their first ever game together didn't get the result they would have liked but we are looking forward to seeing the improve hopefully week by week.
The U13's travelled the short journey to Marston Saints and unfortunately lost by the odd goal to Marston Saints, but showed good character to force their way back into the game almost snatched a draw at the end. Callan O'Connor (2), Ashton Donnelly and Adam Smith were all on target in a 5-4 defeat.
The Under 14's, whose league campaign starts next week, had a tough game against A League side Summertown in a friendly match, going down 8-2. Harry Wheeldon and Bradley Cox both managed to get on the scoresheet for Headington.
Well done to all the players that took part this week and good luck for next weeks fixtures.
